How to choose a Lego set on Prime Day

With so many Lego sets out there, it’s almost impossible to suggest any specific one or even a purchasing strategy. That said, if you don’t really care that much about a specific IP, such as Star Wars or Marvel, then one of the best things you can do is prioritize piece per dollar. That’s a pretty easy calculation to do where you take the dollar price of a Lego set and divide it by the number of pieces; once you do that, you should get a general idea of the ratio of pieces you’re getting for every dollar you are spending, so then you can just prioritize that.

On the other hand, this philosophy can be disheartening and take away from the joy of buying Lego. As they say, perfection is the thief of joy, so we think you should focus more on sets that you think look cool and interesting and that you would want to build and not worry about the piece-per-dollar ratio. It’s also worth checking out some best-of lists to find some of the most popular sets, such as our very own roundup of the best video game Lego sets.

How we chose these Lego Prime Day deals

While we’re also consumers of Lego products and sometimes suffer from the price-per-dollar ratio due to our work with deals, we try not to let that get in the way of finding really great Lego sets that are worth grabbing. The truth is we have a pretty good idea of the various available Lego sets, so we can recommend deals on sets that are a lot of fun and memorable and will give you something cool to display once you’re done. We still do our best to find you the cheapest deals out there, but when it comes to fun pastimes like this, sometimes it’s more about the joy you get out of any individual set than it is about how cheap you can get Lego.
