The MacBook Air M3 was a big jump from the original M1 version, and our senior computing editor, Luke Larsen, said that “put simply, the M3 MacBook Air is still one of the very best laptops you can buy.” Surprisingly, this one is cheaper than the M2 version and even has 18% off, but it does come with a smaller 256GB of storage.

When our senior computing editor got his hands on the M2 MacBook Air, he thought, “No other laptop balances performance with chassis size like the MacBook Air, all while featuring top-of-the-line components.” While it’s a couple of years old now, this configuration of the M2 MacBook Air is no slouch. It comes with 8GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and, of course, the M2 Chip, all for 17% off.

This configuration of the MacBook Air 15 M3 is great if you need an extra little bit of power, and while it’s only 9% off, it does come with a couple of spec upgrades. That means a much better 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage for some extra space.

With more screen space, the MacBook Pro 16 M3 Pro is great for those who can’t work on a smaller screen, and with our senior computing editor saying, “For the first time in years, I can breath a sigh of relief and recommend a MacBook Pro,” we’re confident in suggesting it with its $500 discount.

If you want the most power you can get from a MacBook Pro 16, then this M3 Max has the most powerful chip Apple offers in a MacBook. It also comes with a whopping 36GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, all for $500 off the original price.

How to Choose a MacBook on Prime Day

MacBooks come in two flavors: The MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro. When it comes to something lightweight and easy to carry around, the MacBook Air is the way to go, and is easily one of the best MacBooks on the market, especially if you go for the M3 version. On the other hand, if you’re looking for power and performance, then that means the MacBook Pro, which is actually specifically made for creative folks who need it for work.

One thing to note with MacBooks is that Apple does tend to be a bit stingy with RAM, so you’ll usually find most options come with 8GB, although that may be enough for you if you check our guide on how much RAM you need. The same applies to storage also being quite small, but at least you can grab one of these external hard drive deals or one of several cloud storage services. Otherwise, pretty much any MacBook you grab is going to be excellent and have a great screen, microphone, camera, and overall build and typing experience.

How We Chose These MacBook Prime Day Deals

Luckily, when it comes to MacBooks, finding good deals is a lot more straightforward since it doesn’t require going through the dozens and dozens of configurations something like a Dell or HP laptop might have. As such, it ends up being a matter of looking at the deals available and comparing them to historical deals from previous Prime Days and big sales events, and making sure you are getting an excellent deal. We try not to make any assumptions about the sort of configurations you may want to buy, but we do lean on our years of experience in tech and commerce to pick the deals with the best return, both in terms of monetary investment and in terms of enjoyment and a good experience.
