HP 22-inch P22v monitor — $59, was $109

HP

For a super cheap solution to all your screen woes, check out the HP 22-inch P22v monitor. It won’t be the best monitor out here but it will give you the advantages of a 22-inch monitor to hook up to your existing setup or to expand from your laptop. It has a full HD resolution along with a 75Hz refresh rate so the essentials are here. It also has 200 nits of brightness and a contrast ratio of 3000:1 along with a 5ms GtG response time. Nothing is remarkable here but the remarkable part is that fantastically low price. It’s perfect for the tightest of budgets.

Samsung 24-inch Odyssey G3 — $120, was $200

Samsung / Samsung

It’s rare to find one of Samsung’s better gaming monitors at a budget-friendly price, but this 24-inch monitor is a great example. It runs an FHD resolution, but more importantly, it can hit a 165Hz refresh rate, so it’s perfect for those who like playing more action-packed games. The lower resolution also means that you can probably get that refresh rate even with something like an RTX 4070, so you don’t need to spend thousands on high-end graphics cards. The Odyssey G3 also comes with FreeSync Premium and 1ms MPRT response times, so it’s pretty fast for its price tag. The only real downside is that it can only manage 250 nits of peak brightness, so you’ll need a relatively dark room to use it.

LG 27-inch 4K Monitor — $200, was $350

Best Buy

The LG 27-inch 4K Monitor is a great price for a 4K monitor. It has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 while there’s also VESA DisplayHDR 400 support so you get fantastic colors and natural light and shadow. It also has DCI-P3 95% coverage of the color spectrum so it’s a good bet for any image editing plans you may have. There’s also support for AMD FreeSync to ensure smoother screen tearing and less input lag. It’s a solid all-rounder at this price. While it won’t be the best option for gaming or video editing, it’s a good bet for a little bit of everything in your life.

LG 32-inch UltraGear QHD Monitor — $280, was $450

LG

Looking for a gaming monitor that won’t cost a fortune? Check out the LG 32-inch UltraGear QHD Monitor. It’s a great size at 32 inches offering plenty of detail without being overwhelmingly big for your desk. It brings with it a 2560 x 1440 resolution so it’s perfect for the bulk of your gaming. As most gamers aim for a 1440p resolution for the sweet spot between good looks and a high frame rate, it’s off to a good start before you factor in the 165Hz refresh rate which keeps things running silky smooth even when the action gets fast-paced. There’s also a 1ms response time so if you’re slow to respond, it’s you rather then your monitor letting the side down.

Samsung 32-inch Odyssey BG65 — $400, was $700

Samsung

This 32-inch curved monitor from Samsung is a great option for gaming and is absolutely packed with features if you’re looking to up your graphics. It runs a 2560 x 1440 resolution, and can hit a very impressive 240Hz refresh rate, which, we’ll be honest, you might have a hard time reaching without graphical compromises, even with something like the RTX 4080. You’ll also appreciate the 1millisecond response time, as well as the HDR 600, although it should be noted that monitor HDR isn’t quite at the same level as TV HDR. Part of that is the fact that this monitor can only hit a peak SD brightness of 350 nits of peak brightness, so it’s not that bright, although it should be enough that even some room lighting shouldn’t be an issue.

Samsung 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 Curved Gaming Monitor — $1,200, was $1,800

A huge and immersive experience, the Samsung 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 Curved Gaming Monitor is an investment but one that you’ll adore. It offers a 49-inch dual QHD panel with a great 1800R curvature so you feel wrapped up in the action. The panel is an OLED one and uses Samsung’s Neo Quantum Processor Pro so that each frame is analyzed and optimized as you play. A super low response time of 0.03ms and 240Hz refesh rate all add to the quality of the experience while there’s also DisplayHDR True Black 400 support. This is the ultimate monitor for many gamers even if it does cost almost as much as a good gaming rig.

Dell UltraSharp 49 Curved USB-C Hub Monitor — $1,280, was $1,360

Dell

The Dell UltraSharp 49 Curved USB-C Hub Monitor is a great option for content creators, those juggling a lot of work, or simply in need of the ultimate amount of space. It has a dual QHD resolution of 5120 x 1440 with 100% REC 709 and 100% sRGB color gamut, along with 98% DCI-P3 and 98% P3. It’s perfect for all your image or video editing plans. The Dell UltraSharp 49 Curved USB-C Hub Monitor also has a USB-C hub built-in so there are two HDMI ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, four USB 3.2 ports, two USB-C ports, and a USB-C port with Power Delivery. We wouldn’t recommend it for gamers due to its 60Hz refresh rate but if you’re passionate about your home office setup, this is the solution for you.

When do Labor Day monitor sales start?

Labor Day sales are already underway which is why we’ve picked out the best deals above. Simply put, if you’ve been waiting to buy one of the best monitors as part of the Labor Day sales, this is your chance to do so. Labor Day monitor sales started early, so they’ve kind of amalgamated with the back-to-school sales. Anyone keen to be more productive could do with a dedicated monitor so that’s why there are so many good monitor deals happening right now.

Labor Day is officially on September 2, which is today, so that’s when the deals will peak in theory, but we’re sure to see some good sales in the coming days too as retailers try and get rid of extra stock. Because of that, it can be tough to know whether to buy now or hold out. In reality, many of these deals will be at their best right now, and it is unlikely that we’ll see anything more substantial coming along afterward. Also, it’s important to consider stock levels as some of these deals could end before Labor Day ends, so if you see something awesome now, buy before you miss out.

Should you shop Labor Day monitor deals or wait until Black Friday?

When seeking out awesome monitor deals, how do you know when to buy? Products like the best gaming monitors and the best 4K monitors are far from inexpensive so it’s important to get the best value from your purchase. Black Friday is generally considered the best time of year to buy anything but with Labor Day so close, what do you do?

Labor Day is close but not that close. What we’re saying is if your monitor has just died or you desperately need a new one for whatever reason, you can’t really wait until Black Friday. That’s ok because often, discounts are just incrementally more cheaper at Black Friday compared to Labor Day so you’ll still be reaping a great discount either way.

If we’re talking about a more optional purchase, like a medium term plan to upgrade your gaming setup, it’s smart to hold out until Black Friday.

Another thing to consider is finances. The holiday season is expensive for pretty much everyone so if you know November onwards will be costly, it might make more sense to buy during Labor Day so you can spread the purchases across a few months. Only you really know what’s best for your situation.
